Centenary of the Armistice ~ The Wilbrahams dedicate a new memorial to those who served from Lt Wilbraham & Six Mile Bottom

About 100 villagers gathered at Wilbrahams’ Memorial Hall on Sunday 11th November 2018 to dedicate a new plaque to those who served in The Great War from Lt Wilbraham & Six Mile Bottom. The etched glass plaque was researched and designed by John Bramwell and funded by Lt Wilbraham Parish Council and now sits alongside our original wooden memorial which lists the men of Gt Wilbraham only.

Rev. Alice Goodman conducted the service and unveiled the plaque with the help of younger villagers, Wilbrahams’ Community Choir sang a version of the poem ‘They Shall Grow Not Old’ by Lawrence Binyon, especially composed by Gill Humphrey. Ray Tilbrook and Duncan Wells spoke movingly of their family’s inclusion on the list of names.

£220 was raised in a collection for ‘Help For Heroes’

Thanks to all who baked cakes and served teas.
