Pie & Ale Night raises over £1000 for the Play Area Fund!

Wilbrahams’ Memorial Hall was bustling with 90 guests on Friday night who came to celebrate Burn’s Night and enjoy a fantastic Pie & Ale feast.

Glorious pies and tarts of all persuasions were brought along by local bakers, which meant that most of the ticket price could contribute to the fund raising total .

We just squeaked over the £1000 threshold (£1001.58), which is absolutely amazing – funds desperately needed for the Play Area.

It just wouldn’t be possible to raise that much money in an evening and eat so handsomely without the mammoth effort and generosity of everyone who brought along all the pies and puds – the array was amazing, and we had just enough (phew!)

~ Thanks also to the stalwart effort of the ladies in the kitchen who ploughed through all of that washing up and kept smiling – Judy, Cheryl, Carol & Sarah are stars!

~ Also, to Ian Cumming who gamely held the evening together and amused us with tales of ‘diy haggis’ and cow parts… And to Rob White for toasting the beast!

~ To Kathy & Roger Down for a fascinating and enjoyable quiz, which was pitched just right.

~ And to Mark Watch of Moonshine who brought along the ales and tales of brewing. He kindly donated £30 from his takings to the total.
