Play Area Project Update

We are delighted to announce that we have had some success in our fund raising efforts and grant applications. We have now raised 2/3 of the projected budget of £75,000!

So far funding has been received or pledged from the following organisations:

Wilbrahams’ Memorial Hall Funds from Fundraising Events – £10,000
(assisted by Weenie Warblers Sponsored Toddle
& Wilbrahams’ Community Choir)
Great Wilbraham Parish Council . £10,000
Lt Wilbraham Parish Council – £800
St Nicholas Church – £500
Wilbrahams’ Social Club . £5,000
Wadlow Wind Farm Community Fund . £10,000
National Lottery ‘Awards For All’ . – £10,000
South Cambridgeshire District Council Community Chest – £1000

We have a large grant application for £25,000 which will be decided in June – so fingers crossed for that! Local donations are still needed and very welcome to complete the whole project.

In the meantime, we have decided to get going on the Play Area refurbishment so that a proportion of the equipment will (hopefully) be in place for the Summer Holidays at the end of July. We have concentrated on equipment for the younger children at this stage. The second phase will be ordered in the Autumn and will include more challenging equipment for older children, a basket ball hoop and goals. So you should see some activity at the Play Area soon – we will be refurbishing the old Wicksteed swings and giving them a lick of paint and some anti-pigeon spikes on the top. We will then remove the timber equipment at the last minute before the new installation, which should take a couple of weeks or so. The whole area will be shut whilst this is happening. So, please be patient and look out for a grand opening party at the end of term!
