The Wilbrahams and Six Mile Bottom Vegetable, Flower and Produce Show 2017 – cup winners and money raised.

The Show was held on Saturday 15th July in Great Wilbraham Memorial Hall and was a great success!  This is thanks to all of you who entered the Show and to those of you who came along in the afternoon to enjoy the display, tea and home – made cake, the prize – giving, auction and the raffle!!

It all made for a really lovely ‘buzzy’ friendly village atmosphere with the added bonus of cricket on the green!!

Congratulations go to the winners of the awards which were kindly presented by Mr. Ray Tilbrook, President of the Hall Trustees:

Stephenson Cup (Highest points in the Fruit and Veg section): Roger Rayner

Les Potter Cup (Runner up): Peter Ludman

The Brian Fisher Salver (Highest points in the Flower section): Peter Wilson

The Rose Bowl (Specimen rose): Peter Wilson

David Water’s Memorial Cup (Best pelargonium exhibit): Kathleen Dawson

The Social Club Cup (Highest points in the produce section): Ruth Sinclair

2012 Diamond Jubilee Rose Bowl (Highest points in Arts and Crafts section): Emily Lane

The Doris Franklin Cup (Highest points in the Photography section): Carol Whitehouse

Thistle Tankard (Highest points in Under 12’s section): Zoe Cumming

The Junior Cup (Best exhibit in the Under 12’s section): Zoe Cumming

The winner of the “Spud in the Bucket” competition (the heaviest yield of

potatoes) was Richard Wright.

The Show could not go on without a lot of help from many people so

THANK YOU VERY MUCH to all of you who helped in any way at all. Your time and effort is greatly appreciated!

Huge thanks too for all the many donations to the auction, raffle and cakes for the ‘teas’ .…your generosity is echoed by the record amount the Show raised this year of £825 for the Hall Funds!

Although the Show was down on entries (450) with few in some categories e.g. Flower Arranging, Craft and Photography, the Hall still looked ‘a picture’ with tables full of produce, flowers, fruit and vegetables and children’s art, very kindly captured by Chris Fells photographs!

Hopefully we will be up in the 600’s for entries again next year so see what you can do!!  Should you have any ideas for classes in any of the sections of the Show, please let me know ASAP
